Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay is a Californian born in Long beach on the 24th of August, 1972. DuVernay was motivated to pursue her love of the arts by her aunt Denise as a young girl. Her aunt worked the night shift as nurse, so she could pursue her love for art literature and theater in the daytime. DuVernay was first introduced to the film West Side Story by her aunt. DuVernay was taught by her mother that art can be used to promote activism. DuVernay had her mother who was socially aware and taught her to use the arts as a way of expressing herself. DuVernay was born in Compton by her parents, but spent the summers with Lowndes County Alabama. This is the place where her father's family was for many generations. DuVernay's father recalled watching the historical Civil Rights march through the Edmund Pettus Bridge in the adjacent town Selma Alabama. DuVernay was inspired by the summers she spent in Alabama as inspiration for her film Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. DuVernay graduated from Saint Joseph High School at Lakewood in California in the year 1990. Following graduation, she attended her first year at the University of California Los Angeles where she earned degrees in English as well as African American studies. DuVernay began to develop an interest in broadcast journalism as a student. She began her career as an assistant to CBS News in the O.J. Simpson's trial. DuVernay recalled being given an assignment to watch the house and examining the garbage from one of juries. The work she was assigned to did not leave her satisfied with journalism so she decided to move towards the publicity industry. DuVernay started her career as a junior public relations assistant at a small film studio, right after graduating from the college. The company she founded for her own PR, The DuVernay Agency was founded in 1999. In addition to PR, the company established several lifestyle platforms like Urban Beauty Collective, Urban Thought Collective Urban Eye, HelloBeautiful. Autumn Riley.............................Autumn Riley was born in Los Angeles United States. Autumn Riley's birth sign is . She is an actress, well-known for her roles in American Experience (1987) and A More Perfect Union (2009). Autumn was in the role in the roles of Rose and Anna Payne for A More Perfect Union.
